Mr. Henry Muller- father of the Smart CartBack in 1976, retired Brigadier General Henry Muller of Santa Barbara, California (pictured at right), got himself interested in a long-standing problem among horse owners: They wanted an easy-to-use stable cart that was big enough to haul high volumes of feed and bedding, tough enough to stand up to heavy use and barn acids, and yet agile and lightweight enough to negotiate narrow stalls and rough ground.
The result? His patented Smart Cart™ was an immediate success at boarding stables and ranches.
Since then, there have been many lesser quality copy-cat versions, yet we continue to focus on producing the highest quality garden carts, stable carts and dock carts made in America. Always hand-crafted by dedicated, long-term employees, our materials receive an attention to detail far beyond that of any automated fabrication shop. When your cart leaves our location, we stand behind it 100%. The limited-lifetime frame warranty will stand up to any regular use or material defect and replacement or repair will be made in short order.
In 1986, our company moved from California to Maine, while sales of Smart Carts expanded across North America and as far afield as the U.K., Italy, France, New Zealand, Dubai, and Germany.
Today, we’re headquartered in Gorham, Maine (near Portland), building more Smart Carts than ever. And we’re always proud to hear from satisfied customers whose carts date back 15 or 20 years—or even to our classic originals of the 1970s.
Smarts Carts. The best—and last—utility cart you’ll ever buy!
